GADENS STEMMER + RF’17

A good cause

Gadens Stemmer (Street Voices) is a socioeconomic organisation that helps homeless people in Copenhagen. One of the organisation’s initiatives is to have a presence at Roskilde Festival with a corpse of 100 volunteers that pick up beer bottles and cans through out the festival area. All the proceedings from the deposit on the bottles and cans go directly to housing and food for the homeless.

It took little convincing from my friend My Ravn who is project manager at Gadens Stemmer, to get involved and help out. My good friend Henrik Fischer who is a carpenter, and I teamed up on the project and started planning.

With a very limited budget we were fortunate enough to get the good people at Cotter to help us out, by lasercutting all of the graphic elements in plywood along with a lasercut cardboard template for mounting the objects onto the structure. At the festival site we were meet by two old rusty containers that were to be the basecamp. It took us a full day to build the structure on top of the containers, and a couple of hours to mount the graphic elements.

The design of the basecamp gave Gadens Stemmer a stronger visual presence at the festival, more awareness, more press, a nomination for RF Heroes and a better location at the festival site in 2018.
